DTC B1043 / B1047: Driver / Passenger Pretensioner Initiator Circuit Short to Ground
DTC Will Set when
The voltage measured at driver or passenger seat belt pretensioner initiator circuit is below a specified value for specified time.
Flow Test Description
Step 1: Check whether malfunction is in seat belt pretensioner.
Step 2: Check seat belt pretensioner initiator circuit in seat belt pretensioner harness.
Step 3: Check seat belt pretensioner initiator circuit in air bag harness.
Troubleshooting

1
1) With ignition switch OFF, remove quarter lower trim of applicable side.
2) Disconnect connector “Q04” or “Q06” connector from seat belt pretensioner.
3) Check proper connection to applicable seat belt pretensioner at terminals in “Q04” or “Q06” connector.
4) If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (C) to “Q04” or “Q06” connector.

With ignition switch ON, does DTC B1043 or B1047 still exist?
Go to Step 2.
Ignition switch OFF.
Replace seat belt pretensioner referring to Front Seat Belt with Pretensioner Removal and Installation .

1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect special tools (A), (B) and (C) from “Q04” or “Q06” connector.
2) Disconnect connector “L31” or “L33” from air bag wire harness in floor harness.
3) Check proper connection to air bag wire harness at terminals in “L31” or “L33” connector.
4) If OK, then connect special tools (B) and (D) to “L31” or “L33” connector.

With ignition switch ON, does DTC B1043 or B1047 still exist?
Go to Step 3.
Repair short “YEL” or “YEL/RED” wire circuit to ground.

1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect special tools (B) and (D) from seat belt pretensioner wire harness connector “L31” or “L33”.

2) Disconnect SDM connector “G102” from SDM.
3) Measure resistance.
a) DTC B1043: between “G102-11” terminal and body ground, and between “G102-12” terminal and body ground.

b) DTC B1047: between “G102-5” terminal and body ground, and between “G102-6” terminal and body ground.
Special Tool

Is resistance 1 MΩ or more?
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
DTC B1043:
Repair short “WHT” or “PNK” wire circuit to ground.
DTC B1047:
Repair short from “BRN” or “LT GRN” wire circuit to ground.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
• Reconnect all air bag system components, ensure all components are properly mounted.
• Clear DTCs (Refer to DTC Clearance .), if any.
• Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
