Transfer Assembly Dismounting and Remounting
Dismounting
NOTE:
Set shift position to 4H position to facilitate transfer dismounting and remounting.
1) Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2) Drain transfer oil referring to Transfer Gear Oil Change .
3) Remove exhaust pipe (1).
4) Remove front and rear propeller shafts referring to Propeller Shaft Removal and Installation .
5) Disconnect 4WD switch connector, 4WD low switch connector and transfer shift actuator motor connector and unclamp harness.
6) Disconnect VSS connector.
7) With transfer supported on jack, remove 3 mounting nuts (1), and then mounting right bracket (2) from transfer.
8) Remove transfer with mountings left bracket (3) from vehicle body.
4. Mounting
9) Remove mounting left bracket from transfer.
Remounting
Reverse dismounting procedure for remounting noting the following.
• Tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Transfer mounting nut ( a ): 30 N·m ( 3.0 kg-m, 22.0 lb-ft)
• Set each clamp for wiring securely.
• Connect VSS connector.
• Connect 4WD switch connector (gray connector).
• Connect 4WD low switch connector (white connector).
• Connect transfer shift actuator motor connector.
• Refill transfer gear oil referring to Transfer Gear Oil Change .
• Install front and rear propeller shaft referring to Propeller Shaft Removal and Installation .
• Install exhaust pipe referring to Exhaust Pipe Removal and Installation:M13A or Exhaust Pipe Removal and Installation:K9K .
• Connect battery negative (–) terminal to battery.
