Instrument Panel Removal and Installation
WARNING:
Removal
1) Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
2) Disable air bag system (if equipped) referring to Disabling Air Bag System .
3) Remove steering column hole cover.
4) Remove steering column assembly referring to Steering Column Assembly Removal and Installation .
5) Remove glove box.
6) Remove hood latch release lever.
7) Remove front console box.
8) Remove front side sill scuffs (1).
9) Remove dash side trims (2).
10) Remove front pillar trims (3).
11) Disconnect instrument panel harness connectors from main and floor harness, heater control cables from heater unit and antenna.
12) Disconnect SDM coupler (1) and air bag ground wire (2). (for vehicle with air bag)
13) Remove instrument panel mounting screws (1).
14) Remove instrument panel mounting bolts (2).
15) Remove instrument panel (3) with steering support member (4) and instrument panel harness.
Installation
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
When installing each part, be careful not to catch any cable or wiring harness.
Tighten instrument panel mounting bolts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Instrument panel mounting bolts ( a ): 23 N·m ( 2.3 kg-m, 17.0 lb-ft)
Install steering column assembly referring to Steering Column Assembly Removal and Installation .
Adjust control cables referring to “Installation” under Heater Control Lever Assembly Removal and Installation .
Enable air bag system (if equipped) referring to Enabling Air Bag System .
