Oil Pump Assembly Inspection
1) Measure inner diameter “a” of oil pump body bush. When measured value exceeds limit value, replace oil pump assembly.
Oil pump body bush bore
Limit “a”: 38.19 mm (1.504 in.)
2) Measure inner diameters “a” and “b” of stator bush. When measured value exceeds limit value, replace oil pump assembly.
Stator shaft bush bore limit
“a”: 18.50 mm (0.728 in.)
“b”: 23.40 mm (0.921 in.)
A: Torque converter side
B: Transmission case side
3) Using thickness gauge, measure body clearance between oil pump body (1) and driven gear (2). When measured value is out of specified range, replace oil pump assembly.
Clearance between driven gear and oil pump body
Standard: 0.10 – 0.17 mm (0.0039 – 0.0067 in.)
4) Using thickness gauge, measure chip clearance between drive gear (1) and driven gear (2). When measured value is out of specified range, replace oil pump assembly.
Tip clearance between oil pump drive gear and oil pump driven gear
Standard: 0.07 – 0.15 mm (0.0028 – 0.0059 in.)
5) Using a straightedge (1) and a feeler gauge (2), measure side clearance of drive gear (3) and driven gear (4) with oil pump body (5).
When measured value is out of specified range, replace oil pump assembly.
Side clearance between gears and oil pump body
Standard: 0.02 – 0.05 mm (0.0008 – 0.0019 in.)
6) Install oil pump assembly (1) to torque converter (2) and check it turns smoothly.
