Description of Limited Shift Operation
When the 4WD control module detects the following condition in the 4WD control system, the 4WD control module limits the transfer shift operation as follows, and the limitation can be canceled by turning ignition switch to “OFF” position.

Transmission range limitation
• Detects A/T shift range is at other than “N” range or clutch pedal is released when “4WD” switch or “2WD” switch is turned ON and transfer is at 4L.
• Detects A/T shift range is at other than “N” range or clutch pedal is released when operating “4WD-L” switch or “2WD” switch with transfer is at 4H or 2H.
Cancels transfer shift actuator motor operation.
• 4WD low indicator flashes at intervals of 0.5 seconds.
• Warning buzzer sounds 3 times.
Detects A/T shift range shifts at other than “N” range or clutch pedal is released during shifting from “4H” to “4L”, from “4L” to “4H”, from “2H” to “4L” or from “4L” to “2H”. Operates transfer shift actuator motor to shift position detected by 4WD low switch.
• 4WD low indicator flashes at intervals of 0.5 seconds.
• Warning buzzer sounds 3 times
Vehicle speed limitation
• Detects signal from “4WD” switch or “2WD” switch at 5 km/h (3 mile/h) or more when transfer is at 4L.
• Detects signal from “4WD-L” switch at 5 km/h (3 mile/h) or more when transfer is at 4H or 2H.
Cancels transfer shift actuator motor operation.
(Returns shift position before it shifts.)
• 4WD low indicator flashes at intervals of 0.5 seconds.
• Warning buzzer sounds 3 times.
Detects signal from “4WD” switch at 100 km/h (62 mile/h) or more when transfer is at 2H. Cancels transfer shift actuator motor operation.
• 4WD low indicator flashes at intervals of 0.5 seconds.
• Warning buzzer sounds 3 times.
Detects 5 km/h (3 mile/h) or more during shifting from “4H” to “4L”, from “4L” to “4H”, from “2H” to “4L” or from “4L” to “2H”. Operates transfer shift actuator motor to shift position detected by 4WD low switch. 4WD low indicator flashes at intervals of 0.5 seconds.
Return control Can not detect ON signal of 4WD switch within 3 seconds after transfer starts shifting from 2H to 4H. Returns shift position before it shifts. 4WD indicator flashes at intervals of 0.5 seconds.
